How to play Texas Hold'em
The deal and the blinds
- Each hand, the dealer button moves one seat left. The player left of the button posts the small blind, the next posts the big blind (with two players, the dealer posts the small blind).
- Everyone gets two private hole cards only they can see.
- Blinds start at 10/20 and double every 8 hands, so nobody can sit back forever.
Betting rounds
- There are up to four betting rounds: before the flop, after the flop (3 shared cards), after the turn (4th card) and after the river (5th card).
- On your turn you can fold, check (if nothing is owed), call the current bet, or raise.
- This is no-limit: you can raise any amount up to your whole stack. A raise must be at least the size of the previous raise, unless you are going all-in.
- If the host set a turn timer and it runs out, you automatically check when possible, otherwise you fold.
- If you run out of chips mid-hand you are all-in: you stay in the hand but can only win the chips you matched (side pots handle the rest).
The showdown
- If more than one player remains after the river betting, hands are revealed and the best five-card hand (from your 2 cards + the 5 community cards) wins the pot.
- If everyone else folds at any point, the last player standing wins the pot without showing their cards.
- Tied hands split the pot.

- An ace can play high (10-J-Q-K-A) or low (A-2-3-4-5) in a straight.
