How to play Iron Rails
Your turn (pick one)
- Draw two train cards — from the five face-up cards or blind off the pile. A face-up locomotive counts as your whole draw.
- Claim a route: spend that many cards of the route’s color (gray routes take any one color; locomotives are wild) and place your trains.
- Draw three destination tickets and keep at least one.
Scoring
- Routes score on the spot: 1/2/4/7/10/15 points for lengths 1-6.
- Destination tickets settle at the end: connected pays the points, unfinished costs them.
- The longest continuous path earns a 10-point bonus (ties share).
- Double routes: only one side per player — and with 2-3 players only one side opens at all.
Game end
- When any player drops to 2 trains or fewer, everyone (including them) gets one final turn.
- Reveal tickets, settle the points, add the longest-path bonus — highest total runs the rails.
