War — play online free with friends
Split the deck and flip — high card takes all, and a tie means WAR for the whole pile.
The simplest card battle there is — and still a nail-biter. Split the deck, flip your top card, high card takes both. Flip the same rank and it's WAR: cards get buried face down, one more goes up, and the whole pile rides on it. Capture every card to win.

How to play War
The battle
- Each player gets half the deck, face down. You never choose a card — just flip the top one.
- High card wins the battle and captures both cards. Aces are high; suits never matter.
- Captured cards go to your win pile. When your deck runs dry, the win pile shuffles back in — you fight on until one side owns everything.
War!
- Flip the same rank and it's war: each player buries three cards face down (the host can set one, two, or three in the lobby), then flips one more face up.
- The new face-up cards decide it — the winner takes everything on the table: both tied cards, all buried cards, and both war flips.
- Tie again? Double war. The pile grows, and it all rides on the next flip.
- Short on cards? You bury what you can spare but always keep one to flip. Run out entirely and you can't fight the war — you lose on the spot.
Winning
- Capture all the cards to win outright.
- Marathon deadlocks are called after 2000 battles: whoever holds the bigger army wins.
- Lobby options: full deck (26 cards each) or half deck (13 each) for quicker games, and how many cards get buried per war.
