Jump, capture and crown your kings — the classic duel on the dark squares.
The classic two-player duel on the dark squares of an 8×8 board. Slide your men diagonally forward, jump enemy pieces to capture them, and crown kings on the far row. Capture every enemy piece — or leave them with no move — to win.

How to play Checkers
Moving
- On your turn, move one of your pieces diagonally to an adjacent empty dark square.
- Men only move toward the far side of the board; kings move diagonally in all four directions.
- All play happens on the dark squares — the light squares are never used.
Capturing
- Jump over an adjacent enemy piece into the empty square directly beyond it to capture it.
- If the same piece can jump again after landing, the chain continues — you keep jumping until no capture remains.
- By default captures are forced: if a jump is available you must take one (the room admin can relax this in the lobby). When several jumps are available, you choose which to take.
Kings
- A man that reaches the far row is crowned a king.
- Crowning ends the move immediately, even in the middle of a jump chain.
- Kings move and jump both forward and backward.
Winning
- You win by capturing all enemy pieces, or by leaving your opponent with no legal move.
- If 40 moves per side pass without a capture or a man moving, the game is a draw.
