How to play Dominoes
The tiles
- The host picks the set in the lobby: double-nine (0-0 through 9-9, 55 tiles) or double-six (0-0 through 6-6, 28 tiles).
- Double-nine deals 10 tiles per player. Double-six deals the classic 7 — except draw games with 3-4 players, which deal 5 so the boneyard keeps a stock.
- Your tiles are hidden from everyone else. The rest sit face down.
- Arrange your hand however you like: drag tiles left or right to reorder them, and tap a selected tile’s ⇅ button to flip it top/bottom. Only you see your arrangement.
Block or draw
- The host also picks the style in the lobby.
- Block (the default): no drawing. If you can't play, you pass — the undealt tiles stay out of the round entirely.
- Draw: if you can't play, you draw from the boneyard until you can. You only pass once the boneyard is empty.
Teams (2 vs 2)
- With 4 players the host can turn on teams in the lobby and pick the pairings (numbers refer to the order of the lobby player list).
- Partners sit across from each other, so turns alternate between the teams.
- You can't see your partner's tiles — no table talk!
- Scores are kept per team: pips your partner sheds count for both of you.
Starting a round
- In the first round, whoever holds the highest double leads (heaviest tile if nobody drew a double). The round winner leads the next one.
- The leader may open with any tile.
- The opening bone keeps a little star marker for the whole round, so you can always see where the line started.
Your turn
- Play one tile whose end matches an open end of the line — it can go on either side.
- If you can't play: pass (block games), or draw from the boneyard until you can (draw games).
Ending a round
- Playing your last tile is a domino: your side scores every pip left in the other hands.
- If everyone passes in a row the round is blocked: the side holding the fewest pips scores the pips of the other side(s). A tied count scores nothing.
Winning the match
- Rounds repeat until a side reaches the target score picked in the lobby (or wins the single round).
